Those that didn’t book the rafting tour, will go with an assistant guide on our private bus for 20 min to the next town, Santa Rosa. After this, we will walk for 45 min until arriving at the lodge, La Choza. After enjoying an outdoor breakfast, we will walk along the riverbanks and hike up for 30 min. On our way, we will see small coffee plantations and fruit trees. After arriving at the top of the mountain we will see the whole valley of Urubamba. The group will descend for 2.5 hrs to the village of Qellomayo. Lunch will be served here. After a break, we will trek for 3 hrs through farms, rivers, waterfalls until arriving at the hot springs of Santa Teresa. From the town of Santa Teresa, travelers that reserved in advance will do the zipline (to later be taken by bus to Hydroelectrica), and the rest of the group will continue hiking for about 3 hrs to Hydroelectrica, where the whole group will reconvene. Here we will have a great lunch. After a break, the journey will continue along the Inca jungle for 3 hrs, traversing through waterfalls and coca and coffee farms until arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes. After passing the control entrance around 6:00 am the private guide will show us the site for 2 hrs. Later the group will be free to enjoy Machu Picchu on their own. The passengers that reserved the hiking to Huayna Picchu will embark on their adventure for about 2.5 hrs (there and back). The path is very steep at some points but it’s worth it. This trek is not recommended for people that suffer from dizziness.
